Proposed Ordinance Amendments

The Zoning Ordinance Amendments (PDF) that have been provided to you for your approval are the culmination of many years of work by the Planning Department and City Boards with contributions from the Mayor’s office, City Council, the many departments of the City and the public at large. 

Color Coding

  • The original amendments to the Zoning Ordinance were submitted to the City Clerk on August 15, 2012 and are identified by the Blue font wording.
  • On September 11, 2012, the amendments were reviewed and approved by the Planning Board at a Public Hearing. Suggested amendments from the Planning Board are identified by the Yellow highlighted wording.
  • On October 1, 2012, the amendments were reviewed and approved by the City Council Ordinance Sub-committee. Suggested amendments from the Sub-committee are identified by the Red font wording.
  • We have provided a short explanation of the changes in each amendment and the purpose behind the change. These explanations are identified by the Green font wording in this document. 

Final Draft

The document is a working draft of the proposed changes to help you understand the development and source of these changes. The “official document” will be provided by the City Clerk, as drafted by the City Attorney and will not include the explanatory language or color coding you see in this format.
